Sand Castings
The sand castings process can produce metal castings of many different alloys. Molding sand is compacted around a pattern to form a hollow cavity. Molten metal is poured into the mold at a high temperature. After it cools and solidifies, the casting is formed.
There are several casting methods used, but the sand castings manufacturing process accounts for 60% of all castings produced.
Benefits of Sand Casting
Metal Castings have dated back to 4000 years B.C. The process has developed over centuries and is constantly ever improving. The sand-casting process is inexpensive, reliable, and repeatable. High quality metal castings can only be produced from high quality molds and accurate molding processes.
Each casting method has is pros and cons, but the sand castings process can be tailored to meet size, shape, metal type, and production processes for each application.
