Sivyer Steel to Host Steel Founders’ Society of America

back to news & events

Sivyer Steel is honored to announce they will be hosting members of the Steel Founders’ Society of America (SFSA) in the Quad-Cities this week. Members will be from the SFSA “Future Leaders” group, which is intended to increase networking opportunities between newer foundry personnel and experienced industry professionals.

The two-day event allows Sivyer to showcase to their peers the business practices and technological advances that have kept them in business for over 100 years. One specific point of interest will be Sivyer’s recent decision to go paperless on the shop floor. Sivyer Steel is also coordinating roundtable discussions, research presentations and an expert panel.

While the Future Leaders will tour the Sivyer facility, they will also visit the Rock Island Arsenal Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center on Arsenal Island, which entered into a partnership with Sivyer Steel in April 2010.

“Hosting the Future Leaders allows us to support and encourage networking in our industry, while providing Sivyer Steel with the opportunity to showcase our facilities and our partnership with the Rock Island Arsenal,” says VP of Technology Hal Davis, who will be leading the expert panel. The Future Members will be in the area from Tuesday, November 2nd through Thursday, November 4th.

Founded in 1909 and one of the first large steel foundries in the United States, Sivyer Steel Corporation is committed to producing high-quality, high-volume custom castings for many major manufacturing industries. The company has been in their current Bettendorf, Iowa location since 1961 and is an ISO 9001:2008-certified foundry offering capabilities that include molding, melting, heat treating, and finishing.
